The former campus of Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Ter Linden in Knokke-Heist needed more space and parking places, so the management decided it was time for a brand new building, inspired by the work of René Magritte.

Maximum comfort for patients and employees

This new care environment includes a 320-bed hospital, a rehabilitation centre, a care hotel, a polyclinic, auditoriums, an area for the public, and a heliport. It was designed to ensure both patients and staff enjoy maximum comfort. There are numerous energy-saving measures, such as a biomass heating system, cogeneration, and energy storage system. The indoor and outdoor lighting was also thoroughly updated.

ENGIE Fabricom’s role

ENGIE Fabricom was responsible for the design and assembly of the complete HV and LV electrical installation in the building, car park, dialysis building, and outdoor area. We also designed and built the site’s indoor and outdoor lighting.

Comprehensive solutions for the healthcare sector

ENGIE and its subsidiaries have extensive experience in deploying their expertise for hospitals and healthcare centres. Over 100 institutions have already assigned projects to ENGIE Fabricom, ENGIE Cofely or ENGIE Axima. This often involves vitally important work behind the scenes, that could indeed mean the difference between life and death. These highly diverse solutions improve energy performance in hospitals, facilitate the generation of renewable energy, and guarantee comfort and safety for patients and staff through measures such as access control and fire protection. In short, the range of healthcare services provided to hospitals by ENGIE is surprisingly comprehensive.
